Looking on BRfares http://www.brfares.com/#faredetail?orig=BHI&dest=SOA&rlc=NGC&rte=200&ldn=1&tkt=SVH
suggests a fare of £27.70 Off peak single from Birmingham International to Southampton Airport Parkway with an Annual Gold Card. When I look on nationalrail it suggests no such fare and the cheapest fare of £83. http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/timesandfares/BHI/SOA/tomorrow/1400/dep#outwardJump
Can someone explain why this is so much more?
That's a Saver Half, priced by Virgin, sold by Virgin. Only available online when buying a single in the other direction too.

Ahhhhhh - many thanks for that!
If you're making a one way journey, it may well be cheaper to buy a Saver Half and a 'throwaway' Advance single in the other direction 3 months in the future ;)

And remember that a Gold Card can't be used on Virgin Trains either.
