Hi could anyone confirm what I should be paying for a single berth tonight (there is availability) is it 25% of the total fare or just 25% of the super off peak return plus £50 for the single berth one way- am coming back over a few days on day trains. Many thanks

I turned up on the night once. There was space but the Train Manager said there was no walkup Priv discount on the train, neither in seated nor berthed accommodation.

You should pay the Priv fare, and the public rate berth fee.

It seems I misread the first post as my post pertained to the Caledonian sleeper - sorry.

Re: the Night Riviera, they're usually very accommodating. I used it a few months ago to get to Cornwall. My understanding is that Priv fares are fine in the seated accommodation, as long as there is space and that you can upgrade to a berth, but won't get any discount on the berth supplement which was around the £50 mark.

You can get Priv rate on some of the "Advance" berth inclusive fares But the quota is limited so may have already sold this close to travel date. The cheapest way will then be Super off peak with PRIV and seperate berth supplement (or you could travel in seated coaches :lol:)
Just noticed key requirement = Travel tonight, so too late for berth Inc. Fare anyway. Always a danger all berths booked of course but unlikely midweek in March ?

Eh Thought you couldn't get Priv on Advances? and how many days in advance at a very off peak time of year.

The Night Riviera is a bit "special" like that, in that all of the berth-inclusive fares are defined as Advances, but the most expensive ones in each category (ticket types SAB and SAC) are treated as if they were walk-up fares, so are refundable and qualify for a PRIV discount (subject to availability of the quota).
