My Corsa is a 51 plate.

I drove my Corsa to Tulloch and then got the Sleeper down to Tulloch and waited 40 mins for the working to Mallaig back to Tulloch. Okay, the car that visited the majority of stations in the country, probably more stations than any single unit in the country due to route clearances and TOC regions! :P :P

youll probably find then even if you did get a 10 plate corsa (using your 5 years or newer criteria ) it will be miles different , the engines will be massively different due to advances over time and the dash and interiors have changed somewhat in that time . A friend has corsas on a lease plan and always has as long as I care to remember so gets a new one every 3 years and over the years they have significantly changed .

What are majority of your journeys ? . ANd how have you felt with the corsa . Is it time for a new car just cos of age and general wear and tear or are you feeling you want a new car that does something more , more power , more space more comfort ?

Ford stands for fix or repair daily .

Owned a couple of fiats and the OH has one at the moment and never had any problems with them .

IIf anyone wants to know the Ford KA is essentially a tweaked 500 underneath.

Not essentially, it is just a tweaked 500 - they use the same engines, share a lot of other mechanical parts and are even built in the same factory.



To go back to the original query, is there a budget so we can suggest actual cars that are for sale, rather than just basically list every type of small car available?

Less than £4000 and my journeys are mainly within the North West, specifically Merseyside and Greater Manchester to commute and for social. I envisage no massive mileage on stations in the future.

There's a lot of dross at that budget with those criteria, but there's some good stuff in there too. So, starting at the top of your budget and working down, these are the ones that jumped out at me which I think are fairly near you.
My personal choice would be the black Fiat Panda at £3500.

I second that , the Mitsubishi colt does look like a nice car but its group 10 on the insurance in comparison that panda is 4 .

If you did however look to spend right upto the budget then that red clio also looks like a pretty decent shout and i know someone who uses one of that shape as a driving school car so it gets plenty of abuse and he has no issues with it .

Just using the £4000 limit, I'm having a quick look on ebay, and there are a couple of cars that have stood out from the dross ....

true , ive had simillar quotes on cars within 1 and 2 groups of each other which is why I didn't really mention the group the clio is in because its within 1 or 2 of the panda . But ive never had a quote come back lower or the same on cars that are 6 groups away from each other like the Mitsubishi and the fiat .Without knowing the OP's precise details its difficult to say if the difference between them will be hundreds , or less than a hundred

I must first point out that I am not a driver but have been a passenger in a wide variety of vehicles.
For the first list I would pick the mazda 2. It was developed in conjunction with the ford fiesta ad Mazda are known for build quality and reliability (the complete opposite of Fiat :grin: ).
On the second list the i10 looks like a good shot and should have about a year left on the warranty.
