Neither the Ian Allan "Pre-grouping Atlas and Gazetteer" nor the "Complete British Railway Maps and Gazetteer from 1830-1981" by C J Wignall (OPC) show any suggestion of this station, passenger or goods. Could it be one someone was thinking of building a station there or something?

Pagefield Works (Walker Brothers), engineering manufacturer for coal mining industry, etc., but also built stationary steam engines, and a few steam locos. For more details, see "The Industrial Railways of the Wigan Coalfield", Part 2, by Townley, Smith & Peden.

Located on Wigan - Southport line a short distance from Wigan Wallgate. Had a siding, but no passenger station.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
I have now approached a senior member of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Society to see if the society have any records of the query raised.

I have now had a reply from the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Society which confirms all that you say above. It makes me now think that this particular hand-drawn aged map was used by someone who may have used this information at one time, but this was all part of a "job-lot" of railway ephemera that I bought at auction in the mid-1960's when I first began my railway archive.
