Do you sub to Sky Sports?

I usd to have sky but found that I mostly watched channels available on freeview, and I wanted to save some money up for something else. Canceling sky is quite a challenge though, I gave in the first time when they offered me a good discount for six months and ditched it after that. I would recommend trying to cancel the subscription just for the discount they offer.

Yes, you'd be mad not to at least pretend you wanted to cancel every now and then. The first offer might be quite poor, but you can hold out for 35% or even 50% off everything for 10-12 months. And the lady I spoke to told me the date that I should call up to negotiate another discount.

The first time I tried to cancel my TV and phoneline/broadband with them, they gave me 100% off the TV package for 6 months as long as I kept the phone/broadband for that period. Yes I have typed that they gave me my TV package for free for 6months, and it wasn't a basic package neither. I did not give in 6 months later when I cancelled, and saw it through.
They then paid me £100 when I complained about their harassment after I cancelled- I was receiving 2-3 calls a day from their retention department, even after I told them to stop calling me.
I now have PlusNet for phone/broadband- unlimited internet, weekend and evening calls for the pricey sum of £2 a month plus line rental.

I think the games are changing in the new rights agreements - if my interpretation is correct, sky will get the saturday lunchtime game back, and the saturday evening game (which has traditionally been the one which is covered by the 'other broadcaster (Sentana, ESPN etc.) is going to BT sport.

Good grief, I didn't know Sky TV cost so much. I suppose someone has to keep these footballers and sports celebrities in the lifestyle they have become accustomed. I'm stick with Freeview thanks very much.

It isn't really the footballers that are demanding the money, if they do it is only because they can, it is big busines. If you don't like it stop just go and watch your local team, it will cost you a lot less and will force down prices elsewhere as advertising revenue dries up.

If you were a top footballer and you were just about to negotiate your new contract just as Sky pumps even more money in you would obviously up your game.

The players will get what the market can afford and at the moment the sky's (pun) the limit.

This is a golden age for top end footballers which may not always be so, the ones playing now have truly hit the jackpot.

If they can attract sponsorship for the club, and sell more tickets, that's great.

And if they can get paid an incredible amount of money just to be part of the squad, whether playing (or even being just on the bench) then why be too concerned about how good you play?

So fans rant about you on Twitter and the papers have a good moan. You can probably take it when you're reading it all and looking at your bank balance ticking up rapidly at the same time...

I agree, if you were an average footballer who could earn millions you would, that stands to reason.

Oh, it doesn't really bother me as I have no interest at all in football or sport generally. But you're right, everyone has a choice.
