What are the chances of claiming delay repay if I have to leave more than an hour earlier to reach my destination?

Booked 0742 from Milton Keynes to get to Leamington Spa at 0837, would have to leave an hour and a minute earlier to get there at the same time, due to the cancelled engineering works.

*Stupid autocorrect has ruined the thread title*

You don't receive Delay Repay for being on time, but so we can best assist you can you please inform us what ticket(s) you have exactly, and - crucially - when you booked it?

You can depart as booked and claim Delay Repay from XC, as appropriate.

Alternatively, you should be allowed to depart early (check with Virgin that they don't have the disgraceful East Coast policy of not allowing an earlier departure when the subsequent trains have been re-timed since booking ) and this will hopefully avoid delay and thus avoid the need to make a delay repay claim (unless a further delay occurs)

You mean VT surely?

According to NRE at present, the OP would now need to make the following journey to arrive at LMS for 0837:

0641 MKS to RUG 0702 (VT)
0759 RUG to COV 0810 (LM)
0825 COV to LMS 0837 (XC as booked)

HOWEVER, note NRE also currently states:
The planned engineering work between London Euston and Watford Junction on
Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February has been cancelled. These changes are not currently shown, please check back nearer to the time of travel.

So it may be that the 0742 is reinstated nearer the time.

Doubt it, as it has only very recently disappeared.

OK, this is now sorted. Got a refund from Scotrail, and have abandoned the plan to go to Leamington, instead I will be going to Cheltenham on Friday, to visit my Grandma. I'll be using Great Escape to get there!
