Quiet weekend through Taunton/Castle Cary/Highbridge

Its been a very quiet weekend lineside between Taunton, Castle Cary and Highbridge as the line has ben closed for engineering.
Whilst it looks as if the opportunity was taken for vegetation clearance - we saw several van loads of men cutting back bushes with some impressive chipping machines, can anyone tell me exactly what work was done?
Yesterday afternoon there was a long engineering train sat just outside Taunton - track renewals?
Anyone advise what was done?

That website refers to some speed improvements. Does anyone have any details on this?
