Discussing the bus service at Woodhouse station in Sheffield on a thread tonight got me thinking that it has roughly twenty four buses departing per hour (eight Stagecoach to Woodhouse Village, eight Stagecoach to Hillsborough via Sheffield City Centre, eight First to Hillsborough via Sheffield City Centre) compared to just two trains departing per hour (one from Scunthorpe to Lincoln and one from Lincoln to Adwick).

Since most train stations that see infrequent services are in fairly rural places (and therefore see fairly infrequent bus services, if any), I was wondering which station has the largest number of buses departing per hour compared to the number of trains departing per hour?

I'm not saying that Woodhouse will be the "winner", but as a benchmark it has roughly twelve departing buses to each departing train - can you do better?

For the sake of argument, let's ignore large town/city centre stations* and say that we include all bus stops within a hundred metres of the railway platforms...

(* - hard to define, I know)

Chiltern Railways services at 0701, 0758, 0903, 1041, 1640, 1739, 1839, 2004

Buses:
18 is Every 4 minutes, so 15bph
92, 182 and 245 all are Every 8 minutes each, so 7bph each route

Total: 36 buses per hour during the day, just 8 trains per day!

Denton. I believe it has a reasonably frequent bus service, 1 train a week.

My local station has buses every 10mins each way on the 3 and every 15mins each way on the 9&10. No service is scheduled to stop there (you have to shout stop!).

Not entirely sure it's in keeping with the spirit...but two London based ones would be Kensington Olympia which sees a very limited train service; and City Thameslink (which closes around 11pm each night and every Sunday - while the buses keep flowing past it)

Kensington Olympia which sees a very limited train service

Five trains an hour in each direction off-peak isn't that limited!

Care to name what it is?

New Clee, which IIRC has no lighting so has no services call after dusk.

I'd nominate Heworth, if we're ignoring light rail. One train an hour and 60+ buses per hour using the attached bus station.

Ashfield: Two trains per hour (half-hourly) in each direction on Mondays-Saturdays (An hourly service operates in both directions on Sundays).
The 75 SimpliCITY bus to Castlemilk (operated by First Glasgow) which runs directly past the station entrance has a bus every ten minutes in each direction for most of the day. There is a 12 minute frequency on Sundays.

Again, maybe not in keeping with the spirit, but if you count overnights, there are probably quite a few places in London with a high bus-train ratio.

Take Finsbury Park as an example. On a Saturday night there are no trains between 01:41 and 04:44. But during that period, the bus frequencies are:

N19 3bph
N29 18bph
N253 5bph
N279 5bph

That's 31 buses per hour, through the night.
