'Is this the real world?' Jeremy Clarkson tweets snap from economy class train coach

The Top Gear star snapped a picture of his TV co-star James May on a train, clearly the pair were on a day out together.

Tweeting the picture he papped of James, the pair looked like they were travelling in the normal section of the train as opposed to first class.

He captioned the picture of Captain Slow: "Is this the real world?"

It would seem the duo were having some trouble getting to their destination, making a detour out of Leeds when they thought they were going through.
He was clearly enjoying tweeting through his journey, something he can't usually do when driving cars....

I like how the article points out they are in 'economy class' (!) on the 333 but then a bit later down the page James is pictured in First Class on East Coast!

Think they were confused as a 333 has no 1st Class...

It would help if the Express actually got the tweets in a bit of order! It would seem they were on an EC northbound (looks like a HST?) because earlier Clarkson tweets about going through Doncaster. So then he later tweets that Leeds looks like New York, then the train heads out of Leeds again, presumably heading for Skipton (which is what the announcement would have been about). He then complains that he's in a station from 1743 (has to be Shipley :D ) and then tweets the picture in the 333.

So the moral of the story is, pay attention Clarkson!!

P.S. I would love know where they thought they were going.....

I wonder if they did something staged for the program e.g. like the time in Japan they sent Hammond and a crew member with a camera to another portion of the train (apparently because Hammond needed the toilet) just as the train was going to be split.

He posted an image on the price of his ticket, and it would appear that it was purchased via a corporate ticketing scheme (presumably BBC) as it shows 'W' next to the price and where the warrant number should be is '0000000000' - normally a good indicator.

I did enjoy the various tweets, quite funny :)

"1st Class" on a 333 is any seat that doesn't have 12 years of hair-grease-stains on it!

I agree! I get the 17:39 Shipley-Leeds (ex BFS) each evening and noticed today how grubby these trains are looking.

I understand Northern have their hands tied over what stock they run, but they could and should give ALL their trains a bloody good clean!

Slightly off topic but I seen Jeremy Clarksons TGV2 car/train heading eastbound on the M27 earlier today heading towards Portsmouth, the Jag was on one car/trailer combo and the caravan/carriage was on another.

No idea where it was off to?

To the studio where they film Top Gear? Ready to start filming the studio parts with audience for the new series so various creations will be around the edge.

Going the wrong way if it was going towards Portsmouth!
