Sounds like the Kelvedon one was rather messy. The lines reopened but the station stayed closed for a fair while after for "clean up"...

There was an incident at Kelvedon this morning, about 10:15. Loads of cancellations and delays on the GEML as a result, still being affected up to about 16:00 this afternoon, at the least.

I was on the 0930 ex Norwich which was terminated at Colchester. First train through was shortly after 12.
There was mostly acceptance and empathy for those others involved but there was the few inevitable whingers.

I was surprised to see two liners (or three) and an ECS allowed south before the first passenger train. Is that usual practice?

Only reason would be if they where first in the queue. ECS may have been detrained at Witham to move forward to allow another into the station to do same. Liners if there would have nowhere else to go.
