If they'd started at 0700 and it was 1645, then surely that would be late, unless they're rostered to work 9hr 45min days of course

But how its worded makes it sound like there the last staff leaving HQ for the day, and I can't see the commuters having any sympathy while their trains are delayed and the only information on twitter is coming from a person with poor english, and no local knowledge, and no way to contact other departments, who works for a contractor in India.

For a desk job (assuming they have a lunch hour) that would be considered a 8 hour 45 working day.

Sorry, I haven't done a desk job in years, when I last did one the lunch hour was part of the working day, is that not the case nowadays ?

You were a lucky chap then; my lunch hours (1979-1999) were never part of the working day!

Also can we stop talking about lunch 'hours' more like half an hour...

I saw that Tweet and I think the person on the Tweet Deck was handing over to someone else for the evening as they are still tweeting now.

Maybe they meant to schedule it to go out later, but messed it up? I doubt they were really shutting up shop at 4:45 even if the railways do seem to think it's Saturday today.

I get them...and hour lunches!

But do you get to pick your lunch from a menu, and have it served in the Executive Dining Room?

And in the afternoon, are you served tea in a proper china cup, by an old lady with a trolley, who also offers a selection of home made cakes?

Aah the good old days of banking :)

Yes this tweet was really sent at a quarter to five in the early evening, on a working day. Hardly have it difficult if they consider that late now a days.

How I wish for the David Whitley days back. A cynic can't help but wonder if someone is trying to dismantle what he set up.

Meanwhile, fGW Twitter seems pretty good these days, and don't VT man theirs 24 hours?

They are, like they do most of the time now a days. Tweets were also sent signing off at 16:00 a couple of days last week, and a member of LM staff confirmed NRE were taking over at 16:00 on another day
LM Twitter is staffed internally until 4 or 7, and then subcontracted to NRE until 10.

Their Twitter account seems to be covered 0700-1500 and 1500-2300 these days.

Seems more like. M-F
07:00-09:00 staffed by LM customer services
09:00-16:00/19:00 occasional checks by LM customer service staff
16:00/19:00-22:00 Occasional checks by NRE often answering incorrectly
S/S
08:00-16:00 occasional checks by LM customer services
16:00-22:00 occaisonal checks by NRE as above.

As already mentioned, NRE handle the LM Twitter feed after 16:00

FGW, EMT and VT are all 24 hours (although FGW may be NRE between 23:00 and 06:00?).
I sort of wish for the DW days back, but only if it was adequately staffed as he never got a day off, and tweeted along side a full time role, think he worked something like 08:00 till 01:00 most days...
LM customer service superviser has recently claimed to me in an email that they consider that although their Twitter service has changed it is of a no lower quality, and the changes were needed due to a higher tweet volume being received, and due to changes in customer services opening hours...

Definitely not in my line of work (IT in private-sector healthcare).

When I was an employee for one of our hospitals I was contracted to a 37.5 hour week, doing 9-5. When I was promoted to Head Office my contract became a 35-hour week, also doing 9-5. So my "lunch 30 minutes" became a lunch hour.

I'm sure there would be some flexibility available to me in taking a 30 minute lunch break and ending the day at 4:30 if I requested it, but I'm quite happy with the hour, and it means my hours align with the majority of office staff at our sites, who may well require me any time up until 5:00.

Last week the sarcastic and stroppy one out of LM customer services was busy planning his social life on the corporate Twitter feed. Hardly a professional look to the service.

As for "lunch hours", I get a full hour but I'm not paid for it (who is?). Very nice it is too.

PM name of the sarcastic and stroppy one...
Asking Nandos if they do burgers again... while I know TOC tweeters moan about people sending stupid questions they're happy to send their own from the corporate account.

No, it's usually over the pub for a pint and a carvery/something else.

In the afternoon, I have the home made cakes, but the tea is in a mug shaped like a London Bus, with the boss being tea lady...

The good old days of local government!

As far as I'm aware the only thing that's changed is most people used to work 9-5 with 1 hour lunch, now most people work 8.30-5 or 9-5.30 with 1 hour lunch or 9-5 with 30 min lunch.
