I love the song personally, but for god's sake - let it die!!

Basshunter - Now You're Gone | Ministry of Sound

One of the biggest internet success stories - ever! Basshunter is a Swedish bedroom DJ/producer, a cyber geek who wrote a song about an experience with meeting a girl on the internet. The girl was called Anna, and the song 'Boten Ana'. Basshunter sent it to his friends on the web, who forwarded to their friends, and so on until it ended up in the hands of a local radio DJ who played it out on air. After its first airing the station was inundated with phone calls to play it again and they added it to their playlist. The track then went crazy, the whole of Sweden got caught up in the story about his love for a girl on the internet, and when it was released in Scandinavia it became the fastest selling debut single since Abba, and Basshunter their biggest selling debut artist ever! Through word of mouse, the track spread and it became number 1 in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg - the first ever Swedish language hit in these countries. Germany were next, the song went top 10, something only Cascada & Eric Prydz have managed from the dance world, the track then hung about in the top end of the charts for 6 months.. ..Fast-forward to the summer of 2007 and an English vocal version 'Now you're Gone' has become the most requested record in summer holiday resorts around Europe, due to it being the lead track on a mix cd by DJ Alex. As people return from their holiday's in Magaluff and surrounding islands desperate to get their hands on a copy it's clear that the Basshunter phenomenon is about to hit the UK!

I heard that songs YEARS ago! Seriously.
The original was in Swedish and got to number 1 there. As it was about IRC Channels and Bots, the Swedes thought it was about canals and boats. Everyone got a bit confused really.

Here's the original http://youtube.com/watch?v=RYQUsp-jxDQ

It is not bad for a clubbing song.

Duffy Mercy is being overplayed and I think the alphabeat release has some chances for grating.

Oh god. The Alphabeat song is just cheesy and queer. That's already annoying.

Can't say I've heard that song.

Now Alphabeat... that *is* a good song. My favourite at the moment is Sigur Rós - Hoppípolla however.

Can't beat Hed Kandi though or a bit of Cream Fields even happy hardcore as long as it isn't the ones that take a good song and rev it up a bit and add the chipmunks over it like the old classic Tec 9 or NRG (the real people who make i need your lovin)

It could be worse. Try clubbing photography, you get used to it. Also work in a Morrisons get used to that. Travel to work on 333's, get used to that too :D

Well I have tried photos at a musical instead of a club, and I do work at Morrisons. :D
Not near enough to a railway to use trains though.

The one I am talking about allows drivers on a break to have a quick shop in their PNB. The other one I work at is in a rough part of Newcastle. Only buses, not even the Metro.

I'll tell you what needs to be banned - Nickelback - Rockstar. Possibly the worst song ever made?

Oh, my god.

THAKNYOU!

Everyone loves that terrible, terrible song.

EDIT: Wow at the Leek Spin song! I love that song. Although, is that guy singing "gay...boy..." repeatedly? lol.

Every bloody time I'm listening to Radio in the car (even for a 10 minute trip to Tescos) it's on. They'll never be Rockstars, so don't ****ing sing about it.

Thank god for recordable CDs, can finally listen to some decent shizzle.

Alphabeat rocks my socks too.

as ascot said listen to some off the older hardcore stuff, even if your having a bad day five mins of a song that has about 3000 beats a minute you will soon be bubly again.

Referring to the original post on this thread, I CANNOT stand that piece of s**t. Gets on my nerves. It is fair to say the only thing I hate more than it is a Meridian.

Kids today, wouldn't know a good tune in a club if it hit them in the face. What would be better in a club? Take virtually any tune from the Bonkers series. Especially the first ten releases. Proper happy hardcore. Proper dance music. 'Elysium' is still one of THE best happy hardcore tunes in the world.

If you've no idea what this sort of music is about, do as I did back in the summer of 2002 and listen to Bonkers 8. Play CD1, mixed by the legend that is DJ Hixxy. Try listening to most of the tracks on it. If you don't like it, you're either some ancient bugger who still likes The Beatles or some goth/emo-type character.

As I say, proper dance music. I've got floods of memories just thinking about the hundreds of hours I spent listening to those CDs. Hell, I might get one of them out again later.

As for 'Rockstar', I don't like it, but I've been subjected to it a few too many times so it's kinda stuck in my head. Someone else mentioned 'Umbrella'. Dear God, just hearing the name of that song brings back horrible memories of last summer when it was on everywhere, practically all day. It is the most annoying piece of music I've ever been subjected to for any length of time. If the option of being forced to clear a 142 for 1,000 miles or listen to that song ever came about, I'd rather clear the 142 for the magical 1,000.

You might get the impression I'm not a fan of modern music. You wouldn't be wrong, but you wouldn't be right either. I do like 'Everybody's Changing' by Keane, which is in my books as a classic and an icon of the first half of this decade. I still enjoy hearing that song. I can't think of any other examples of modern music I like, but then I do prefer music from the 1980s and 1990s. Indeed, at the time of typing this, I'm listening to the original version of 'Poison' by Alice Cooper. The techno version of this song is unbearable. High time for 'Here I Go Again' by Whitesnake now. Oh, the example of modern music I do like would have to be Dragonforce. Legendary stuff.

What was my point? The song referred to by the OP sucks balls and should never have been allowed to even touch the charts or clubs. It is rubbish like this that stops me even wanting to ever go to a club again. Not that I think I'm missing out, I'd rather be travelling by train in the small hours and have the memories of said trip than spending fortunes on alcohol in clubs and getting so wasted I forget what happened by the morning.

I actually expected that this was going to be a clip of that H20 song. They should play that video to paedophiles, it would put them off schoolkids forever........

But I actually quite like the music on this one, although the vocals are just so ****ing annoying and whiny! Its like emo-dance!!!!

Personally, I prefer my dance music to be more industrial oriented.
Theres no proper video, but this is the greatest dance track ever. Please listen to the full 9 minutes....

Or maybe some Combichrist:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=eS_QINbOi9k

or for those of you who think thats too heavy, the best dance act around these days is Tiesto or Tomcraft.
