DVD Audio Ripping

Does anyone know if there's any free software out there that lets you rip music off DVDs but without the speech/SFX?

I'm desperate!!!

I've got the normal soundtrack and the limited edition version with extra cues, but they are both appalling value for money. :roll:

Neither CD has any more than 50mins worth of music (and some of that is not even heard in the film) which is abosolutely diabolical considering the film is 2hours 20mins long.

If it's a normal DVD then just delete the audio tracks for the chapters, however if it's a dodgy DVD or .avi file etc.. then play it on your computer and use some video capture software (sorry can't remember the name) and select video only.

Hi Ascot. It's a normal DVD, but I'm unsure what you mean. And how would I do any of this? :neutral:

Whack the DVD into your PC, copy it all over to the drive and delete the folder called AUDIO_TS, then burn it to a CD or create it into a .iso or something. Worked for me anyway a while back.

Just curious, is the Audio_TS folder supposed to have anything in it? 'Coz mine doesn't!

Oh sorry just re-read it.

If it's a particular song i suppose you could just crop it out of the video and leave it with the odd boom or bang in.

I tried that, and it's cool for things like the End Credits, but for like a full on battle scene it's hopeless for a perfectionist like me! :roll: lol

You cannot easily separate music from vox once the track is mastered and burned - you can only do at the mutltitrack stage. Your hope could be if you can find a dolby 5:1 system if the voice is sent to a different speaker to the music....which is unlikely.

With professional kit and spectrum analysers etc, the process is at best haphazard and at worst un-listenable to. Hence why some artists never appear on kareoke, because the reckon companby won;t release 'just' the backing track without the singer.....

Oh well, I'll just have to make do with the material that I've got for the minute. Thanks guys.

Hopefully Disney will release ANOTHER Soundtrack Box Set with ALL the missing music on in the future. If they did, it'd probably have to be on about 15 discs!
