Hi everyone,

from Dec 5th until 7th I'll be staying in Guildford.
On the 5th I need a London Travelcard and an extension ticket to Guildford.
On the 6th I'll be buying a Super Off Peak Travelcard to get to Central London and back.
On the 7th I need a ticket from Guildford to Boundary Zone 6 and a travelcard.

Since I (and, apparently, some other people) had problems with this last year, I was wondering how to try and achieve it this year.

As I don't want to get into problems with the Guildford staff again, can I actually buy a Travelcard with an extension to Guildford in central London (Liverpool Street or Waterloo) one or two days in advance? If possible I'd buy it on the friday or saturday, and then simply use it on the sunday ...

Thanks for your help ...

Michael

A One Day Travelcard can be purchased up to seven days before travel. Extensions can be purchased at the time of buying the Travelcard, or at a later stage (before traveling).

Forgive me if I've got this wrong, but assuming a Travelcard is £8.90, you're better off using a combination of Travelcard and Guildford to BZ6 tickets for all of your days - £7.10 singles on the 5th and 7th and a £9.60 Super Off Peak return on the 6th.

Southern machines sell BZ tickets but that's probably not much use to you?

Thanks. I didn't really know - I wasn't able to find any prices for the BZ6 tickets online yesterday, and I never thought they were available as a return ticket, which is what I'd need for the 6th.

Having said that, here's what I found today.

Which I think is the ticket you mentioned. The trick seems to be to know about the 0072 bit. Now I only need to find a machine to sell them to me ... ;) There should be one at Waterloo I hope ...

A One Day Travelcard can actually be purchased on any train company website up to 12 weeks before travel, just like any other rail ticket. Simples.

BZ tickets can normally not be purchased online, you need to go to a ticket office or a Southern TVM.

Unless they are issued with Advance tickets to London, I believe the correct response is to contact the relevant companies and b*tch and moan until they comply with the conditions attached to the sale of the ticket, asking for a date by which it will be changed.;)
