On the 1825 last night from Canterbury West-St Pancras, there was a signalling problem at Ashford. We sat on the Wye side of the station for a few minutes at a signal, before reversing to the previous signal (we ended up adjacent to the depot train wash) and over a crossover, in order for us to then go into platform 6 and not platform 5.

Can anyone please tell me how far back we reversed, please? Thank you.

(As a bonus, we then ran non-stop to St Pancras and made up five minutes of the delay).

It sounds as though your train stopped at signal AD786 then reversed to come behind signal AD876. That's a distance of 623 metres between signals.

Just for the sake of clarity (and to save any potential no tea and no biscuits meeting for the driver) your move would have been driven forward to the required signal and then driver forward into the other platform. At no time would this move have been driven in a reverse movement.
