Open day 2moro as part of science week. Have to pre-book . Anyone else going?

It sounds very old fashioned but I don't consider these pre booking/ ballot type events proper open days at all , more akin to a private members party :D

These the sort of private members party where people have to put their car keys in a bowl?

Did anyone else know about this sooner? I have been waiting for so long for this depo to be open and I am away this week :(

What's happening with that Lancashire day ranger meet? I'm on a North West Rover and haven't done much of Lancashire with it yet this week! (Partly intentionally)!

Would the pre-booking suggest that only a limited number of places are available?

A couple of us fancied going to the DRS open day a few years back as we lived nearby but having missed the ballot deadline it seemed farcical that something like buying tickets on EBay seemed the only way to get in so I'm glad at least they don't do the ballot anymore

i only got the e-mail on friday to say i'd got tickets. i applied thursday night as saw it advertised on facebook. was a good event but think they could have advertised it better and as it was a show yourself round trip why the need to pre-book?

Presumably to control the numbers of people? It wouldn't have been ideal with large crowds.

I certainly had a good time - well worth visiting.

I think it's got more to do with modern day red tape , health and safety etc as I have attended hoards of open days and similar events over the last 40 plus years without ever needing to pre book
