Survey on train today

I caught the 10:03 Morecambe to Carlisle service today getting on at Sellafield. I was asked to take part in a survey that asked questions like postcode of workplace and home, which stations I was travelling between and a few others similar to ones I have had before about rail travel, what was different was that there were also a few what I would call societal questions, asking me state how important I felt things like facilities for young people were etc. The final question was about if, other than running trains I was aware of any other ways Northern Rail worked or supported my local community.

Anyone know what this is, is it, as it seemed to me Northern Rail doing a survey as part of their corporate social responsibility?

Never had such a detailed survey myself from Northern, but whatever it is, I hope they use the results to promote the Little North Western.

I saw someone at King's Cross handing long forms out. I didn't get one because I was in a rush, but they could be related. Obviously if they are related, it's got nothing to do with Northern :P

Up until the "community" type questions, I would've said it was the National Passenger Survey, but those threw me a bit.

We were offered a survey on FGW Plymouth to Taunton yesterday. We took it, but after realising it was like War and Peace we handed it back saying it was far too long and we wanted to relax on our journey. Didn't even look to see what it was all about - it reminded me of exam time at school!

I should have said it was a q&a type survey with a man entering my responses onto a tablet. I did notice as the train approached that there was someone in the cab with the driver, sounds like a good perk getting a cab ride.

Erm completely unrelated I would hasten to add! The other person in the cab would be an assessor, instructor, trainee, route learner etc.

There were some people with ipads doing surveys about tickets on the Durham Coast line a week last Saturday

I was on the train to Glossop the other day and they did a survey about buying tickets or something. I think it was an external contractor.

Centro often do these at stations in the West Midlands, and I've had London Midland ask me to do one on a Birmingham-Shrewsbury service too.

I was on the Settle Carlisle a couple of weeks ago and some young people started asking me questions for some sort of a survey. As soon as he found out I wasn't eligible for any sort of railcard he gave up. Plus ca change !

I'd be incandescent if I've missed out on a seven day rover over it.

I think that might be right, the inspector I had asked passengers who didn't buy a valid ticket why the didn't buy one, ironically most of the time it was because they got on at Ashburys.

Sky High were doing a ticket survey on my train from Halifax to Leeds on Sunday.

He was only interested in the ticket I had - there were no questions. He also wasn't interested in the rest of my tickets for that journey, Just the HFX to Bradford.

I got given a survey by a gentlemen on the 14:30 FTPE service from Carlisle to Manchester on Saturday.
