Is it worth taking the one day course?

Hi guys,
I failed my Trainee Train driver assessment with DBS in Sept.2014 my application was also short-listed in Southern Railways too but unfortunately my application could not be processed because of that failure I had.
My question is ," Is it worth taking one day trainee train driver course" they advertise on internet?
>Also is it a good thought to invest some money and do the assessments privately ? Would it increase the chances of my application to be escalated to the next steps?

Even if you pass the 2nd attempt you would still need to get past the application stage, what part did you fail on ?

In my experience of TOC HR processes, I wouldn't recommend any one-day courses or private assessment centres.

I fully understand where you are coming from in wanting to do extra courses and things, but companies are much more concerned with your previous work history, demonstrated competencies, previous attendance record etc...

As long as you have not failed the test within the previous 6 months, your test history does not form part of the requirements for the short-listing process.

Although the aptitude tests are required to proceed through the recruitment process as they give an indication about how well you might perform as a train driver - it is often more useful for a TOC to put you through the tests so they can see if you just scrape though or pass by a mile sort of thing.

My advice would be to concentrate on your application form and your manager's interview prep as these are the areas most people fail on.

Nope save your money mate in my opinion, there is nothing they can teach you,,,,,,,, you will be taught everything you need to know when your in the training school and i mean this with the up most respect as i was in your position once you either pass the entrance tests or you don't

The core tests are nothing to worry about nor is the interview if you are prepared... it was tough to begin with but I managed to nail it

The managers interview is possibly tougher as it is very much about you and standing out from the crowd rather than simply drawing from experience however if you don't have the former you may become stuck

No it is a complete waste of time and money. There is plenty of free information on the internet that you can use to help you prepare for the application and interview process.
