Swindon - Fratton breaking at Southampton

Hi all, I hope I am posting this in the right place.

I have a 16-25 railcard and I need to do the following journeys:

25/10 or 26/10: Swindon - Fratton
28/10: Fratton - Swindon spending the day at Southampton (alighting and departing at Southampton Central)

The cheapest ticket which I have found is an off-peak return via Trowbridge at £28.05. I do not need to get into Southampton on the Tuesday until 1100.

My question is: using the above ticket, will I be able to get off the train in Southampton, spend the day there, and then get back on and continue to Swindon in the evening?

Yes, break of journey is always permitted on a return portion of a ticket.

There is also no evening peak on this ticket (restriction Q8).

Your ticket is valid from Fratton from 0820 onwards on working days, all day on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Though mikeg is technically correct by saying "a return portion of a ticket" as an Advance ticket should (at least in theory) always be issued as a Single since "Simplification".;)

Don't forget Southampton is ticket barriered, so you'll have to ask staff to let you out and back in. There's always the slim possibility you'll meet the staff member who pretends not to know about BOJ...
