IEP - Surely We Need A Name For These Trains?

The IEP (Intercity Express Programme) moves forward with the first train arriving in the UK early 2015. Hitachi call it the 'Super Express'. Surely, we need a name for these trains? Any ideas?

Bullet isnt a bad call, as they are made by the Japanese, who are famous for their Bullet trains. Or maybe 'Clippers' on account of how much infrastructure they're going to hit due to the end throw

Hitachi calls them the Super Express Train. In view of the abbreviation, the shape of the nose and the rather wobbly nature of parts of the spec, how about "jellies"?

Strictly, IEP refers to the Intercity Express Programme, not the trains themselves.
If you search for IEP on the government web site you get "Independent Expert Panel", referring to bovine tuberculosis and badger culling.

The last utterance by the DfT on the subject was the order for the second batch of trains, and they are called simply "Class 800".

There are a few options...

Personally I'd call them "SEx". From the first letter of "Super" and the first two letters of "Express".

Although being a bit clever, they could be called:-

"Victims", "Ghettos" or "Samples"

Well if they're nought like a Voyager (Not saying that they necessarily won't be) then you can hardly call them a "Voyager Mk2".

I agree, they'll probably turn out to have some characteristic or noise that will be suitable fodder for spawning a nickname.

They are called Super Expresses, they have a little green leaf logo to go with it.

We had a competition to name them.

That was the genius chosen....but it did win the tender I suppose.
