Thanks mate,

still feel for you but don't give up, its in the past now and you can't change that but you can shape the future.

All the best with your future plans mate, I'm sure you'll go on to achieve great things if you show the belief that you did during the recruitment process.

Onwards and upwards

Morning. I came across this post last night and I have a interview for a Trainee Conductor coming this week and wanted to ask if anyone can give me any ideas on what the questions will be ? I know they will be based around customer and safety questions but is there anything else i need to know. Hope someone can help. Thank you in advance.

They'll definitely ask what you know about Northern.

Make sure you can answer that well, plenty of info on the website. Then they'll be stuff like dealing with emergencies, dealing with the public etc etc

Alot of it will be example based, tell me about a time when you helped a member of public, solved a problem. Etc etc, do research on northern and it's values.

As mentioned above, the Northern website is a good source of info and wikipedia gives details of current fleet and franchise details.

It's a chance to sell yourself to them basically so imagine you interviewing yourself and think about the things you'd want to know about yourself.

Customer service examples are a must along with safety and good knowledge of who you are wanting to work for (Northern).

What day is your interview, get to 5 posts and I can give you abit more help as I can personal message you.

Give customer focused answers. Team player answers ye t able to work on own, safety and don't make up stories unless you've made up the back up answers :)

Keep it simple(KISS) is my advice.

Have good, but uncomplicated, scenario's.As long as they adequately answer the question and display your personal contribution, you'll be fine.

For example,i was asked to provide a situation where I used common sense....I went into overdrive......when a reply such as - closing a fire door that had been wedged open,in order to provide a safer environment..... would have been sufficient.

Stay calm,be confident,and good luck.

Getting close to the finish post now mate.

Try to put the interview to the back of your mind for now, I guess you'll know within the next 7 days, you've done all you can and I'm glad it went ok, I thought I'd done ok and got through, natural thing to think things like I could have said this and that.

Fingers crossed for you mate and let me know how you got on

They have already said the tests will take place next Friday and they are still interviewing tomorrow so I would hope to find out by Monday so I can get practicing the moc tests.

How long have you been at it now ? are you out working or still training ?

Having fun I presume:)

Time flies mate...... I've got 6 routes under my belt so far, just another 14 or so to go.....;)

Yeah mate, having a brilliant time, got one week left in classroom then out with minder, route learning and final rules.

Not many routes at Skipton so shouldn't take long to polish them off.

Glad things are going ok for you too.
