Whats been the best livery in the uk?

My alltime favourite has got to be large logo, particularly on a class 37/4. Closely followed by Intercity Swallow. My current favourite is Scotrail Saltire, not too garish like some others I could mention!

in todays world I like the GRAND CENTRAL TRAINS livery

My all time favourite is the Class 175 in First North Western (barbie) livery, I think it really suited it and the purple pink and white went really well with the yellow front ends something I don't thing the current Arriva colours do as well.

The original Caledonian Railway livery is a personal favourite.

I also rather like the Stagecoach Rail logo from the early 90s.

Actually, (Also I declare an interest!) I quite like the AGA White and Red livery on the Mk3 sets, not so sure about on units.

But a full AGA set in white looks very nice to me.

I wasn't too keen on these new privatised TOC liveries, finding them a bit too '90's'. Greens and oranges (and purples i.e NEx Scotrail) seemed to me a bit quick to look dated. Not to say they weren't striking at the time though.
Another livery I do remember from my young spotting days were the full rake Sealink Mk1's that used to do the Stranraer-Glasgow services in the mid to late 80's. The first time I saw these, I was on holiday as a young 'un in Ayr. A BR blue 47 turned up with a full rake and I was mesmerised with the reds and blues. SPTE were just in the process of turning out EMU's in the orange and black colours. Network South East was another striking livery. Sectorisation was an exciting time for BR!

Has to be Midland Mainline Teal & Tangerine, it looked awesome on the HSTs (and even the 170s) as long as it was kept clean. I also liked Anglia Railways and GNER.

For current liveries: the EMT HST livery and FGW Dynamic Lines (as on the HSTs) are the best IMO.

Depends....

For me, blue and grey for express passenger stock, BR blue for diesel locomotives, electric blue for electric locomotives, Network SouthEast and Southern green on 319s's (when clean!)

All depends on the train and TOC really.

I think we should also have a "worst livery" thread...

NSE is my all time favourite.

I like the old blood and custard SPT livery (still found on the odd 170/334 unit)

I think the best livery at the moment is that what's on 66718 & 66721! I hope one day the good folk at bachmann may decide to do an oo gauge loco to buy in those liveries.

I always liked the provincial livery despite it not being anything to shout about.

The current London Midland livery and the SWT Metro livery are probably my favourite out of the modern lot.

I liked the original freightliner livery that appeared on the 47s it was much nicer than the green we have now.

Current liveries, I'd say FGW and LM

Older liveries, I'd go for all of VWC, new MML (not that teal one!), Fag Packet, Intercity Swallow and finally the Alphaline livery.

To choose just one that's the best is just not possible!
