London Terminals - is Stratford included?

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
This morning I bought a standard off-peak return between Ipswich and "London Terminals", valid on October 4th. I was just wondering, is it possible to leave the train and exit at Stratford station using this ticket (as I'm doing a big day going round on the transport system, and would ideally like to start from Stratford), or would I have to remain on the train to Liverpool Street, and get the Central Line to Stratford? (which is only a minor inconvenience, to be fair :p)

I bought this ticket instead of advance singles due to the fact I want to travel on the first train of the day between Ipswich and Stratford, and (as I'm a university student ), wanted some flexibility in case I was unable to make the first train of the day.

Stratford is not a London Terminal. However, as the Off-peak return [SVR] permits break of journey, you can leave at any station on a permitted route, including Stratford.

There is no need to buy a walk-up ticket in advance unless you want seat reservations - it doesn't save any money. If you were planning to return the same day, splitting at Colchester would have saved you about a fiver. (But you would have to get trains that call at Colchester in that case)

Right, OK, so will the ticket pass through the barriers at Stratford or will I need to show it to staff in order to exit the station? (sorry if this is a dumb question, but it's something that I will just continue to mull over with uncertainty, as this is the first time I've decided to break a journey)

I would expect it to open the barrier, but if it doesn't, then I'd be surprised if gateline staff don't let you through instantly as its not a very complex ticket.

There're multiple reports (including my own) of break-of-journey being a problem at Stratford, as the station is under London Underground control, so both the barriers and the staff are programmed to disallow break-of-journey (as it's not normally allowed on the tube). However, that issue could be limited to tickets with a maltese cross, I'm not sure – still, I wanted to provide a slight warning just in case.

If you're doing a 'big day going round on the transport system', you could use your travelcard to escape the barriers, of course only if you're using a travelcard and not an Oyster card that is!

There's no Maltese Cross on my ticket, so I should be fine. Thanks for the responses everyone. :)

Unfortunately, I am using my Oyster for this day. :p

If you're doing a lot of riding around I would strongly encourage you to buy a paper Travelcard.

Oyster has a maximum journey time and if you exceed it you will be charged a maximum fare (possibly even two). This is a problem where there are out-of-station interchanges (e.g West Hampstead/West Hampstead Thameslink) or you're doing circular journeys, as it can end up linking several journeys together, charging you a maximum fare for exceeding the time limit. The maximum fare doesn't count towards your price cap.

There is no maximum journey time on a paper Travelcard.
