By the looks of it there has been a fatality at Kidsgrove this afternoon with severe disruption on trains into Manchester and through Stoke-on-Trent. As always thoughts are with all those involved. No heard anything of what was involved.

I think you mean 22/09/14, unless you've just invented time travel and gone back in time to prevent the incident occuring. ;)

Ah, hence the XC Voyager heading south out of Crewe c.1700 today.

Was going to ask for an id, but seems a little tasteless given the circumstances.

Thoughts with all involved.

Looks like it was double counted, there shouldnt be any other 1A42s about I would have thought.

Looking at the rest of the times, it's clear it's got to Congleton and been reversed back to Stockport - the times get later going in the wrong direction, which have overwritten the original times in the "normal" direction.

It's been quite a day for persons hit by trains - by my count we're at 5 (Vauxhall, Carshalton, Kintbury, Kidsgrove and most recently Preston Park) and it's only 6pm. Must have been a particularly bad Monday - my sympathies go out to all staff involved.

By the looks of it I think it may have been after the junction as trains to both Crewe and Manchester were disrupted.

It's been a very bad day for this sort of thing, indeed a bad few days. As well as Kidsgrove, there have been fatalities today at Carshalton, Preston Park, Newbury and Vauxhall. And over the weekend at Mitcham, Ebbw Jn, Silverdale from memory.

Thoughts to those involved.

I was on preston park train. Driver apologised for situation.. Weird things people say when in shock. Driver was rescued very quickly by a colleague and walked down platform. Poor guy. Grim to say the least.

About 17:15? It was sat at the far south end of platform 5 with me cursing it because it meant that the 17:21 was late.

London Midland reported it as an incident between Stafford and Crewe initially.

I got on the train at Manchester Piccadilly and as soon as I sat down it was announced they were not going to call at Stoke-on-Trent so in the end I asked if it was a good idea to take the Sheffield train and go that way which I was told yes so I went that way. The brilliance of railway company twitter.

Looks like it might have been 1K15 the 1342 Derby to Crewe train involved, Was looking at delays and this was terminated 2 late at Longport and the return working didn't appear to run at all.

No, it was an XC Manchester - Paignton passing through platform 1. The EMT service set back to Stoke and went in it's booked path for it's return journey in service to Derby. Be wary of making assumptions using this kind of system in disruption as both it and the internal systems the data feeds aren't very accurate during disruption.

I think it was a CrossCountry train involved at Kidsgrove today.

I have noticed there seams to be a large number of fatalities on the stretch of line through Stoke-on-Trent recently. It must be very frustrating for Virgin Trains and CrossCountry as that is the main route into Manchester.

Yes it was the 14:04 Manchester-Paignton involved as I was sat waiting for it at Stoke at the time.
At the same time there was a track circuit failure on the 'up' fast at Crewe causong even more disruption to diverted services.

There was also an 'incident requiring emergency services' at the North End of New Street around 6am time where a person ended up on the line from a bridge over the line. That person was badly injured when removed from the line and as far as I'm aware hasn't changed to a fatality. Caused severe disruption throughout the morning.

As always thoughts to all involved.
