Woman cautioned for defecating on station platform

She may have had tummy trouble, she may have been having a lazy day or she might be a terribly evil woman who was wreaking vengeance on the station, the railway, the government and society as a whole with a desperate act of protest of the filthiest proportions.

However as the news article is shorter than the ingredients list of a pot noodle , when you spout your own vitriol about this woman when you’re not in possession of the full facts you’re merely exposing your own deep-seated prejudices. Such comments are best suited to the Daily Mail website.

What GarethJohn is doing is giving her the benefit of the doubt rather than jumping to the conclusion of “woman does bad thing=woman a bad person”

Correct The article says they are looking for help to find this woman and that they have spoken too a 33 year. Which is it?

You're not in possession of the full facts either yet you seem to be able to shoot down any criticism of what this lady has done by pointing out to people that they're 'exposing their deep-seated prejudices'. Where is any implication in the article that this has to do with any kind of prejudice? It's merely a CCTV picture showing someone doing something which is socially unacceptable in public.

To all the people saying that if the woman was acting out of genuine desperation, she should have at least told someone: whom could she tell, seeing as staff would have locked up and left the station hours earlier? (Source)

(I'm not disagreeing with the general notion that it would be wise to inform a member of staff by the way; I'm just pointing out that it probably wasn't possible.)

If the lady did have some medical problem and (understandably) felt too embarrased to tell anyone then I can sympathise, on the other hand she may have just been a disgusting old hag, I guess we'll never know.

She's reported as being 33.

The bottom line is, BTP interviewed the individual, and in full possession of the facts decided that a formal caution was justified. If she was suffering from any medical condition as has been suggested, they would probably not have done that.

I think Flamingo has the most sensible interpretation of the matter. None of us has the full facts and we can only discuss matters based on what we already know. Some people want to give her the benefit of the doubt. That's fine. Others want to criticise her even after giving her the benefit of the doubt, and there is nothing wrong with that either. After all we all have different opinions on what constitutes "right" and "wrong".

I have managed to trace the roots of our misunderstanding.

It's Llandudno Junction I was looking at, where the incident was. When I opened your page I saw NRE and thought that was what you linked to, but your link was to Llandudno.

Llandudno Junction has staff help available to 2300, Llandudno doesn't. (So technically we were both correct as, well, we were talking about different places.)
