I am booked on this forthcoming railtour. Highlights for me are:traversal of the new Doncaster North chord & loco-hauled traversal of the Barnsley to Huddersfield line & Barton-on-Humber branch. A friend of mine,however,believes we will not get all the way to Barton-on-Humber due to a loco ban somewhere along the branch. Can anyone comment as to whether such a ban exists & if it does whether it affects all loco-hauled trains or just certain ones? I will be somewhat disappointed if I fail to reach Barton-on-Humber but would appreciate any input.

A quick glance at the Sectional Appendix doesn't show any restrictions but my WON doesn't cover Barton on Humber so I can't be certain there isn't something more recent I'm afraid!

As others have said, there is no locomotive ban at any point on the Barton-on-Humber branch line. It has been common misbelief for some time now. Back in March, 57002 went through to the terminus on a route learning trip, and for few days over a couple of weeks afterwards, various engineering trains hauled by Class 20's, 57's, 60's & 66's ran. As well as the occasional loco hauled Network Rail test train, it strongly contradicts the "locomotive ban" rumors!
