True I think it's easy after a long wait to forget what a good position were in. September and possibly a course in November too thinking/hoping it may be sooner rather than later.

Worst case for some of us we'll be in an emptier pool.

Absolutely. I was thinking back to the assessments and just remembering thinking how disappointed I would be not getting through each stage. I saw a couple of guys fail at the MMI and were sent home and thinking on it we are lucky , we're still in the running!

There's been nothing as yet to say the next two courses aren't going ahead. Just got to stay positive.

There have not been any courses cancelled. Five courses pencilled in for next year so far, likely to be more.
Recent internal advertisements for drivers at Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, Darlington, Skipton and one other east depot which escapes me.

Off the top of my head definitely four for Man Vic on Sept course, none planned on Nov. Can't be sure about Piccadilly.

Yep, there's been rumours about Manchester but Wigan hasn't been mentioned much at all.

There's a queue as long as my arm for internal transfers to the Wigan depot, I doubt very much they need Trainees there.
Advertising for internal trainees for Picc at the moment.

Oh dear, that's not good for me or David then. We applied for posts advertised for Wigan depot.

The internal transfer list currently has about fifteen drivers across the company on it, there was only one transfer to Wigan on it last time I looked, that request received relatively recently. The longest wait on there was someone waiting for a transfer to Newcastle since 2006.

No more so than anywhere else really. Piccadilly and Wigan haven't seen very much recruitment recently.

Calls may go out soon for the chosen few for Sept then, time is flying by, can't believe it's nearly 9 months since January

Llama, how do you get access to the internal transfer list, interested for myself at present to see about the availability for the Skipton Depot.

Contact your manager in writing for a registered move to another depot.

There's two waiting to go from Piccadilly and one has a start date for October (I think, maybe Nov)

Unless there's loads waiting to go from Victoria then you must have pretty short arms.

There are currently two already registered for Skipdale, both recent requests (last couple of years).

Forgive me if i've missed this in the countless previous pages but does anyone know the likelihood of a qualified driver getting a job at Buxton? I've seen the ongoing recruitment for qualified drivers but it doesn't name specific depots. If anyone knows how many drivers Buxton has and what routes they sign i'd be grateful also. Cheers.

There was an internal advert for a vacancy at Buxton very recently. Depot establishment at Buxton was 29 drivers IIRC last time I checked.

Electrification work and related training is slightly behind schedule. Those in the know are adamant that it will all be ready for December. They will have done well if there are two 319s running in service on the first day of the Dec TT change.

So post Christmas if I'm being realistic?
We can't really expect them to keep training drivers that will have no trains to drive. Good portion of the blame to government I would imagine, that said how many incidents do we read on twitter re crew unavailable

The 'crew unavailable' cancellations are virtually all down to backlog of training. It takes about 10 months for a driver to pass out as competent, usually on say two core routes, then another two years plus (often more like five) before that driver is then fully productive, signing all traction and routes in their link.
