Trivia - Cafes on Station Platforms

Hi, I have visited a few cafes on station platforms and the ones I am referring to are the ones that serve up a full breakfast, My personal favourites are Wrexham General - Dot 2 Dot, the best breakfast in the North and Wellington, the Platelayers who does another good one. There is also a good one at Llandudno Junction - are there any others that you know of?

Not strictly cafes but offer a decent bacon sarnie etc - Helensburgh Central (delicious), Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge and Selby all come to mind.

I had a very nice Full English Breakfast in the cafe on Platform 8 at Huddersfield

Axminster Station has a cafe with its entrance on the platform and serves full English. See Trip Advisor for excellent reviews. I've had coffee there with free newspapers and it's really cosy.

Also forgot to mention the excellent cafe on Barnstaple station. There is also a smaller facility at Carmarthen.

Glasgow Queen St has Costa and Starbucks.
Glasgow Central has Costa, Starbucks, Gordon St Coffee, Millie's Cookies, Delice de France, Patisserie Valerie and AMT Coffee, according to it's Network Rail page.

Moorish at Birmingham Moor Street will do you a full fry up.

Romsey, nr Southampton, has a rather nice cafe on the Salisbury bound platform. A favourite for crew breakfasts ordered ahead and picked up en route! Weston Super Mare now has a cosy little coffee shop on the platform, in addition to the existing 'pub/diner' already in existance. Quite impressive, two independent eateries both on the same platform at a relatively small station! Great Malvern, Worcester bound, has a very pleasant tea room.

I'm pretty sure that visitors to the Lingwood Station House B&B would be able to order a decent breakfast, though I very much doubt you could just pop in from the platform without prior arrangement, so I wouldn't try that if I were you!

Hartlepool hasn't got a lot going for it (especially after today's result) but with the Rat Race and the Trainstop cafe the station is definitely on a winner

Wymondham has a nice cafe in the station building.

The S&C Ttrust shop at Ribblehead does tea and sandwiches, which is nice when you've just cycled up there in torrential rain. The Conwy Valley Rail Centre has a nice cafe at Betws-y-Coed too.

There was an elderly guy doing (excellent) cream teas and sandwiches by Lelant station when I was there.

Cafe Loco (and it 'feels railway' if you know what I mean) at Worcester Foregate Street right at the end of the platform - a most welcome bacon sandwich cooked on a Sunday morning while we waited for our Paddington train. I think it's future is under threat since the tesco metro started selling teas and coffees.


Nice to know the priorities are in order though - pubs on platform = serious, cafes on platform = trivia.

There's a couple of cafes at Betws-y-Coed station - there's also the Alpine Coffee Shop which has a few tables on the platform.

I've heard good stuff about the Trackside Tea Rooms at the station in Millom too (pretty much the only good thing I've heard about Millom...).

Yes one of my favourites. Woodbridge on the East Suffolk line is very good too, even does Bed and Breakfast.

There's a great little café in the refurbished station building at LLandovery on the HOWL. I don't know if they do a cooked breakfast but lots of excellent home made cakes and sandwiches and a nice welcome.

It's not exactly on the station platforms but London Marylebone has a cafe just across the road which does a stunning cooked breakfast.

Disentis/Mustér has to be my favourite, I had a lovely three course lunch there whilst changing between the RhB and MGB. Salad, a lovely vegetable soup, and a thai curry, delicious! It far exceeded anything you could possibly hope to purchase in the UK at a railway station.

Agreed, they make a lovely sausage sandwich at Romsey

The one at Beeston certainly does some good cake and handmade sandwiches, I have yet to sample breakfast however!
