Glasgow Bashing

I decided recently that I would like to try to get out more and ride some trains I wouldn't normally go on. This is my first time 'bashing' alone (I did go once with my Grandad in Northern England but that was cause I won the tickets) and I really enjoyed it. It was very affordable with the SPT roundabout ticket.

I managed to cram in as much as possible (see the attached scheduled) although I was quite tired by the end of it.

The trains were mostly quiet and i got my preferred seats (forward facing, right hand side) on all the trains. I was also quite surprised when a class 320 turned up on the Motherwell-Cumbernauld shuttle (I thought it would be a 158).

Overall I had a great time and hope to go back and do more non-electrified routes I did not cover this time.

You would have been even more surprised if a class 334 turned up which they usually do along with class 318's as well, they are more prevalent on the Dalmuir - Lanark route, but since the electrification of Cumbernauld, 318's, 320's and 334's all make an appearance...

And there was I thinking that this thread might be about the same sort of "bashing" that Usain Bolt gave Glasgow recently.

We are very fortunate here in the Glasgow area with our rail network having survived the days of cutbacks and having grown so well in recent years. There are many interesting journeys to be made on that ticket (though some might get a little too interesting after a certain time in the evening).
