Today's Cathedrals Express from Kings. X to Scarborough should have been operated by A4 Bittern but was operated by two diesels.

Any idea what happened to the A4?

Thanks

Anyone know what was on this?
Saw what looked like a 37 from a distance on the rear.

A few disgruntled people looking to photograph the A4, but this had been announced on UK Steam a few days in advance (and before huge downpours on Friday evening!)

Just for future reference as I sometimes travel on these type of trips, how does this stand with refunds? If I'd turned up at Kings Cross and found it was Diesel powered, I'd want my money back..

I've seen reference to the motive power being one of 2 or 3 different steam locos but not this - might have to dig out my reading glasses :| ;)

I've subsequently found out Bittern was cancelled 4 days before the trip so do the TOC contact their punters to let them know?

Some friends of mine were in this and they were offered a £10 refund per person.

Up until the day before the tour the SD website was saying that they still hoped for steam and the times had been prepared with steam in mind. The fact that the times on their website showed no water stops seems to have slipped their mind.
