I must pay tribute to the staff at Scotrail for the way they handled the crowds following the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony. They had a train arriving every three or four minutes at Mount Florida with plenty of helpful and cheerful staff to keep everyone happy. Must have taken massive amounts of planning. All credit to them.

It would be good if people could share their rail experiences they have had over the Commonwealth Games period. The good, the bad and anything else they feel obliged to write about and not just for Scotrail, but for the other TOC's who were involved with bringing a huge influx of people in and out of Glasgow. All the guys in the depot's really bust a gut getting our fleet games ready and now our games start later today when all our well worked trains come back in for a little tlc!

I have to praise staff at EDB WHO HANDLED HUGE CROUDS STAYING OVER HERE FOR CHEEP COMPARED TO glasgow amazingly well. The 2 rail journeys I made were Afternoon ones and although not anywhere near Glasgow the services through the central belt an further afield had accumulated enough delay by then for many routes and stations to disintigrate into orgonised mayhem very easily. Also the fact that routes using EMUs e.g Edinburgh Northberwick had shortformed trains and wernt told this would be the case anoyed a few foalk I think.↲

by contrast though I think all the long distance TOCs did well and XCs efforts to load up half empty voyagers thus taking pressure off the E and G are to be creddited, just hope it worked the other way!↲

I went up there for two days (Glasgow) and stayed in Dumbarton. I wasn't going to any events, just meeting a relative and taking the chance to soak up the atmosphere. I don't have any specific events that deserve praise, but using Central and Queen Street, both high and low levels, Partick and Dalmuir to name but a few, all the staff were friendly and helpful and everything flowed well. I did notice that a lot of trains were delayed, but staff were good. My relative (a Clydesider) echoed these comments saying how there was never an issue with free travel and were just very helpful. So if you are a member of the ScotRail team who bust their balls over the last two weeks. Well Done! You did good!
