Hello,

I wonder if anyone with some insider knowledge could tell me what is likely to be hauling this tour. I had a look at UKrailtours website and it didn't have anything. Just wondering if it will be worth going to see.

Thanks in advance

I'd assumed it'd be a 90 to Donny then T&T 66s, but no time in the plan for a loco change at Donny, plus it's timed for 75mph Diesel, so I guess it's 66s all the way.

If it were going to be anything more exciting, they usually make more fuss when promoting the tour!

Times are here:

I'll be lurking in Coach J :)

-------- update ---------

Hmm, timed for 60mph back... now what loco do we know of that has a top speed of 60mph :)

Cheers for that. I looked on RTT but being a donut I looked for St Neots which sometimes isn't used as a timing point it seems.

I will probably pop out to see it. Enjoy your trip!

I'll be getting on at Peterboro' in the morning, arriving there early from Doncaster to do a little gricing. Then hopping off at DC at the end of the day (unless something interesting appears on the front of the train!).

I'm guessing there is no change in traction planned or it would have been mentioned, still this is my first real railtour (I work Saturdays when most of them run) so anything is good for me.

Have any of the DB 66s NOT worked on passenger service before?

That is just a replication of the outward timing spec - but RTT doesn't show where it changes en-route (Doncaster both ways)

I'm guessing 67 is probably just the default for any DBS run tour where traction is unknown.

Seeing as the stock appears to be starting from Welwyn GC yard in the morning and going straight back to Eastleigh from Finsbury Park in the evening I would presume that it is top & tail diesel throughout and guess that 66s would be more likely than 67s (waits to be proven wrong!)

Was down as a 90 to Doncaster then top and tail 66's. Unless something has changed?

If anyone gets chance to spot some of the signal aspects around Hessle / Hull / Docks I'd be most appreciative!

Where was that? UK Railtours don't usually state the traction unless it is something noteworthy. A bit more digging reveals that the coaching stock is leaving Eastleigh this evening and going straight to Welwyn GC (with about 45 minutes stand at Acton ML) and it returns from Finsbury Park straight to Eastleigh on Sunday evening so an electric loco would be extremely unlikely :)

It is (or was) listed here: http://www.railtourinfo.co.uk/diesel.html

Normally quite a reliable source, so I'm guessing it was perhaps the original plan.
Whilst that site is an excellent resource and must take a lot of hard work to compile I do find that the loco allocations on it are rather suspect at times.

Anyway the "magic box" does indeed show 66091 / 132 on the stock.

All running smoothly although 132 is certainly making some smoke!

After the man from Immingham arrived with the spare part the train went on its way and reached Barnby Dunn. Believed to be the first passenger train to reach this location. Train was back on time at Doncaster at 18.25pm.

Interesting foot note. I saw a wild deer running along the docks branch:)

Ah, so there was indeed a deer after all. :)

Just for the benefit of those not on the tour, we did miss the detour via Skellow and Carcroft, after suffering delays caused by the brake pipe failure. The train reversed at Kirk Sandall Jn after Barnby Dun and went direct to Doncaster. I believe it also used the mainline after Doncaster instead of via Decoy Jns seeing that it used Pfm 1 at Donny.

I can confirm that. Up Slow from Platform 1 to Loversall Carr Junction, then Up Main all the way to Stoke Junction (no stop at Retford, which was scheduled) & then onto the Up Slow. Stopped for about 15 minutes at Tallington Junction, then trundled down to Peterborough to arrive pretty much on time. Was a good trip, and it did all of what was advertised minus a break at North Ferriby, which was omitted to catch up time. Again, disappointing to miss out on the Adwick chord, but that wasn't part of the main tour, so there's always another chance on a future tour.
