IMO they look better without... just saying

Although I'm not aware of any 375 operated services which don't have guards on board, the guards don't have any operational duties within the Metro area. The driver is in full control of the doors in those areas.

Does the DOO area apply to 375s ? I thought it only applied to class 376 and Networker 465 & 466 stock on Southeastern
Thanks, its been awhile since I commuted on a 375. The 375 don't stop at many stations in the Metro area without dispatchers do they?
One thing bout the 377/5 that 'Southeastern' borrow is the run with a Guard from Blackfriars, but have run DOO to Bromley South.
cheers thanks for clarifying that point375s are DOO in the Metro area too. If you watch them being despatched you'll notice there's no guard to be seen.
I think there's some towards Maidstone East. The line is obviously equipped for DOO as far as Otford at least for the Catford Loop services to Sevenoaks, but I don't know when the guards start controlling the doors on the Maidstone/Ashford services. I remember a story a while back where the guard was assisting a passenger at a station round there and the driver didn't realise and left without him. The service then had to be cancelled at the next stop as the service was no longer DOO. I presume that wouldn't have happened if there had been a dispatcher.
On one of the evening SE/FCC joint services before I saw the guard board at St Pancras, but obviously they weren't involved with dispatch at that point.
If I remember rightly, the only reason the 379's have corridor connections is so the catering trolley can get through easily, but obviously most GEML services bar the intercity sets don't have catering on board.
I once looked through the window to inside a 350 cab whilst it was stopped in a station - it looked very cramped, I pity the poor driver who has to sit in an area the size of a tiny cupboard for more than one hour!
I thought gangwayed/emergency door units such as 313/317 and 319 are DOO without cameras? The 375s don't have DOO cameras but work with a guard.

When the 360s were being built there was no requirement for them to have gangways so the accountant wouldnt sanction anything which wasnt required, they cannot allow extra expenditure on "nice to haves" which may or may not be used in the future.
As for your standard requirements, you are correct, many many years ago some bright spark did all that and came up with a new set of standards for all rolling stock. A few years later he moved on and some other bright spark was given the job and because technology had improved he decided that a new set of standards (which took into account the new technology) were needed. A couple of years later he was moved on and another bright spark was moved in and guess what he thought?

Almost akin to the 153 cabs...
Was a 360 with gangway even an option?
Isn't that called a 350??
