In the Wikipedia article on the Nickey Line, there is a route map, with that line coloured in green, where Duckhall Gasworks Halt is shown as being very near to the original junction near to Boxmoor station. I believe that this junctional link was lifted.

Has anyone any pictures or news on Duckhall Gasworks Halt. Was it a workman-only station or did it ever appear in published timetables ?

Paul, the comprehensive book "The Harpenden to Hemel Hempstead Railway - the Nicky Line" by Sue and Geoff Woodward (Oakwood Press, 1996) makes no mention of any such halt at the Gasworks. It should also be noted that there was no connection to the LNWR line at Boxmoor until 1959 to supply the gas works after the line was closed between Boxmoor and Hemel - and that only lasted for a year or so until the gasworks closed in April 1960! A photo of the gasworks shows no sign of a platform.

Can you give us a link to the Wikipedia article, please?

Paul,
I have deleted it from Wikipedia.....! I am expecting a please explain from the Editor..!!
I have checked website "Disused Stations" and the editor Nick Catford does not mention it with the other stations on the Nickey Line.
I have checked "Private and Untimetabled Stations" by G.Croughton, etc. and not listed
Finally I have inputted the station name into "Google" and no other mention.

Many thanks for clearing up this matter. I thought that I had better check the facts of the matter by making a thread on this website. as I may have considered including that halt with the others on this line as part of one of the journeys still to be published on the Closed Stations Journey quiz. We recently had a clarification that the supposed station of Roe Green never existed.

I have just looked again on the Wikipedia article and whilst the line diagram has indeed been corrected, that route map in the body of the article that shows Duckhall Gasworks Halt is still there for all to see.

I wonder who was responsible for the original entry of the said route map that appears on the Nickey Line Wikipedia article, as this shows Duckhall Gasworks Halt very clearly indeed at the foot of the green line marking near to Boxmoor. I thought that Wikipedia would have editorial staff who would have spotted the discrepancy on the route map that was first published as part of the article.

I wonder if the route map was taken from the proposals prior to obtaining the Act of Parliament, and was dropped from the Act, so never built?

Paul,
I have deleted it from the route map but cannot access the map in the body of the article. I will mention it to "higher Management" within Wikipedia.
