I understand that season Travelcards on Oyster cards do not class as being issued by a PTE or local authority for the purposes of section 19C of the NRCoC.

Does the same hold true for discounted Travelcards issued on 18+ Student Oysters? These Oysters are only available from TfL and not National Rail TOCs, but I'm not sure if once procured you can then buy the discounted Travelcard for it from a National Rail TOC that has an Oyster-capable TIS.

Well when I commuted into central London for a year back in around 2011 I had an 18+ Student Oyster Card on which I loaded a discounted annual Z1-6 Travelcard at Wimbledon! So it is possible, or at least it was then, now SWT don't do Oyster at any of their booking offices anymore! You can also load discounted Weekly/Monthly Oyster Travelcards at Oyster Ticket Stops!

The discount does not change the nature of the product.

TfL is not classed as a PTE and that's that.

You can, in fact, buy an 18+ travelcard season from any NR station as a paper ticket provided you have the Oyster photocard as a proof of entitlement. (Or at least, that was the case several years ago when I had such a photocard.)

This is of course an issue of debate, noting that TfL are a member of PTEG

I've learnt something new there. In fact, here it is! with discount code LUS

I sell those on a semi regular basis, less commonly the 16+ 50% discounted seasons (code LUR). Some people prefer their season ticket on paper to having it loaded on Oyster.

Whilst there are reasons why you might want to do this, the ability to just go out of your zones without thinking about it and paying only the difference on PAYG, as well as the ability to get lost tickets cancelled, in my eyes vastly outweighs the benefits of paper for Travelcards
