Just emailed them for an application pack. I doubt I'll receive anything at this time on a Friday afternoon though.

The Vacancy is for Trainman, which is essentially a depot driving position. If you email and ask for an application as it is advertised, i.e. Trainee Train(wo)man they will send the correct application to you.

Really? I've received the information and application pack and there is no mention of any driving involved.

The application form has been attached to the email in pdf. format and I'm having drama downloading it so I can fill it in. Does anyone have an idea how you download a pdf. file to a laptop to enable printing?

The driving side of it, from what I have been told, so correct me if I'm wrong, is things like shunting and moving traction around the rails 'off the network'. I think they also have a role on loads where a safety number is required in addition to the driver. Obviously, it is more than likely more involved than that, but if you have the job description from them, you have the job description. I was only trying to help Sneaky apply for the right role as it appeared he had sent an email for Trainee Driver, which it isn't.

Trainman is a mobile Shunter, there is NO driving mainline or otherwise involved.
You maybe mistaken for the GBRF Assistant Train Manager where some grades of ATM do some driving within engineering blocks or power station circuits.

With the greatest respect, I'd suggest people who apply for these jobs actually know what the job entails prior to applying.

No driving involved as a DRS trainmen. 27k is too low for depot driving.
