Annoyed me: those neds (chavs) at Blairhill today! They had a "how loud can you say the f word" contest, asked passengers if they had the X-factor, and pretended to jump in from of the train

Just random chavs who got out of the local school early.

Lmfao! Thats when neds turn funny - savour it because usually they're nasty wee beasts.

Heh, guess where I am?

It seems that some people don't care about anyone other than themselves, and see no reason why people would want to get some sleep.

Ah yes, I have just noticed the location change to Edinburgh:)

Try cotton wool in your ears. Personally, I do occasionally fall back in to my halls at silly hours of the morning, and have been known to go for runs in the more bizarre of circumstances.

Tis just part of uni life I guess!

so they are normals, not neds?

A ned is not necessarily a trainspotter. Only in people with very little access to the outside world is that always the case. A ned is a Scottish chav.

A bit of confusion here I think. A ned can refer to a rail enthusiast but can also mean a youth/chav

Ned

New Engine Desperado.

I didn't know it was used for youth, either way. Chav is a better word ;);)

It's a colloquialism, just like the use of charv in the North East.

My reply was better

Anyway, back on topic. The two meetings I had today lasted 3 hours so I had to stay late to finish the rest of the stuff I had to do today

I beleive it stands for 'non educated deliquent'. Usually seen living in Greendykes, Wester Hailes etc.

Standing at Waverley today, about to get on the 34, up comes a ned - "Oi f****r, ye ken if 34 goes to Sighthill?". I told him no, he needed the 8 behind. I imagine he wasn't impressed when he landed up in Muirhouse.
