A few hours in London

I will be going up to London for a few hours in the summer. I have basically a blank canvas for things to do and I was wandering if you had any ideas?

There are loads of good places to spot, get mileage/haulage or get photos. Which are you wanting to do and which region's trains are you most interested in?

Strange you say 67 bashing as I am getting one from my local station High Wycombe to London!

There are loads of good places to spot, get mileage/haulage or get photos. Which are you wanting to do and which region's trains are you most interested in?

I hope too get a ride on a south west trains desiro(specifically a 444) I also hope to go on a 377,158,159,350 and a 360.

A quick plan I've put together I suppose you could take a LM 350 Euston-Watford Junction for one of the hourly Southern services to Clapham Junction. From there it could be a 159 to Basingstoke and a 444 return to either:
a. Woking, in order to get a 450/455 to Weybridge to connect with another 450 or 455 to Feltham, from where there is a short bus journey to Heathrow for a Heathrow Connect 360 taking you to Paddington
or
b. stay on the return train to Waterloo for a Jubilee Line to Stratford to get an AGA 360 if that is what you prefer.

A nice little transport trip in London is to get HS1 from St Pancras to Statford International, then the DLR from Stratford International to Royal Victoria. It's a short walk from Royal Victoria to the cable car across the Thames from where you can get a Thames Clipper back into central London.

You could also fit in a trip on a heritage bus route, which shadow routes 9 and 15, using routemasters.

For a 444 in London it is quite difficult, technically the stop at Clapham Junction is pickup only for country bound services and set down only for London bound, although once I did manage to board one in front of the guard without issue :P. There are a small number of Basingstoke or Alton services (stopping at Surbiton) that use a 444, but I'm not sure right now about exact timings.

With the 159s, I believe half stop at Clapham on the way into Waterloo (generally the ones which come from Exeter rather than the Salisbury stopper), and it's pick up only going out of London (again I believe it's mainly the Exeter bound trains which stop rather than the Salisbury bound trains)

LM 350 to Harrow & Wealdstone (Tring stoppers, leaving Euston at 34 minutes pass the hour), then a Southern 377 down to Clapham will see 2 of your units covered. Gives you a 10 minute connection time at Harrow & Wealdstone for the :58 Southern services), arriving at Clapham at :33, giving you a tight 4 minute connection to make it to platform 7 for the :37 159 service to Waterloo
