I'm booked on the 0540 Huddersfield departure tomorrow morning to York (Manchester Airport-Newcastle service), and having just looked on NRE, see that the service is listed as standard class only. I also have no reservation on this leg despite travelling on an East Coast advance. I'm now worried that it might be a bus, as I don't have a particularly generous connection at York for my onward service to Edinburgh. Does anyone know anything to set my mind at ease?

Nothing to suggest a bus and no variation showing on RTT. It comes from Manchester to Huddersfield via Rochdale

As an aside, I guess I shouldn't complain too much about my early 0648 train!

Thanks for the quick response! There was certainly no 'BUS' symbol on NRE, wondered why no first class though. It's not as if FTPE have any sets without it. Now wondering if (assuming it's a 185/170 as it can't really be owt else) I'll be fine to sit in 1st, as it's not advertised. Coming via Rochdale I'm assuming it'll be on platform 4 or 6 rather than 8.

As for the early start, I've got a minicab booked! :)

NRE is allowing purchase of 1st Class tickets for the 0540 service and RTT shows it as conveying both First and Standard, so not sure what you're seeing - weird!

Oh well... I suppose (fingers crossed) there might be a seat in standard for me at 0540!

Come come - I have read elsewhere on this forum that TPE run at 60% capacity

It's lower than 60% but very high compared to other operators.

Rail North said:
Transpennine Express‘s occupancy of 52% is second only to the London Overground (which has very few seats per vehicle), and is being significantly higher than all the inter-city operators and LSE TOCs. This reflects TPE‘s important role in connecting inter-urban markets where the peak demand is bidirectional without any flow to one centre as seen in the South East, combined with it experiencing high growth on services predominately operated by three car trains.

When adjusted for number of vehicles, the average number of passengers per vehicle is around 20 for most operators and TPE stands out with an average of 32

What has to be noted though is that's across the whole franchise area. Empty seats on the non-core sections cancel out the overcrowding on core sections.
