I made an enquiry on behalf of someone two years ago for Euston - Carlisle - S&C - Crewe - Euston and it was in the region of £30K... The idea was dropped pretty quickly when I reported that back...!!

£60 a head doesn't sound unreasonable.

Wasn't there talk of hiring out the Royal train a few years ago ? I wonder how much this would cost in comparison, considering you would presumably get a sofa and a more exotically stocked drinks cabinet.

Football clubs (I know Chelsea F.C. do, for example) hire Virgin's trains for some accessible by rail away matches, usually at a subsidised cost of £10/head return.

How do these things work from an operational view? Are they just dropped into the WTT as a STP train, or does something else happen?
