I would put my money on it being public in the next week or two, along with an extension to the current franchise since it appears that DfT are behind schedule.

Yes. It made no difference when NX had both.

It will surprise me if National Express loose the franchise, Overall they've done well with it. Good service, old slam door stock replaced, a number of stations refurbished. Most recent problems have been caused by NR.

I've been using it loads lately. I like it, it's good and pretty reliable. The stations are good and staffed and the trains are in good nick despite the social stereotypes that often come with South Essex. I'm not really a fan of NatEx but I'd be happy to see them keep it. Wish the trains would go back to blue though. Although it's kind of a simple franchise compared to others. But still if it ain't broke....

I would not be surprised to see them keep it ,given the relative cautious conservatism that seems to exist in DFT franchising policy at present
