Hi. Just wondering if anyone can confirm loco identities and the working here. I live in Doncaster opposite the ECML just south of the station. A few minutes ago (16.31 to be precise) I was quite gobsmacked. I just happened to look out of my window to see a plume of steam approaching. Expecting the usual A4 or possibly Tornado I couldn't believe my eyes when a special/ ECS working flew south on the main line behind THREE LMS locos; an 8F, a Jubillee and a Scot. They were hauling maroon Mk1's and going at quite a pace considering the lead loco was an 8F! Can anyone tell me anything about this working. I believe the lead loco was 48151, the second appeared to be Galatea and I am assuming the Scot (being green) was Scots Guardsman. Can anyone confirm these identities and supply any details on the working? I'm nearly 61,I've been into railways since childhood, and that is the first time, in any country, that I've ever seen a triple-headed steam train!

Many thanks for that Ilkestonian. I suspected it was an ECS working as there were no specials showing on the websites I know or in the mags. Thanks also for the link to the site. I've bookmarked it so hopefully I will know of any such future workings in advance.

Three West Coast locos heading for a gala at the Mid Norfolk Railway.

The loco movements page on UK Steam is a bit frustrating at times, as these moves tend to show up on the site at the last minute, or even retrospectively.

The tours page, on the other hand, usually has at least some of the information well in advance - except the exact timings, which Network Rail often don't communicate to the tour organisers until close to the date.
