It's essentially a Windows version of the default Mac browser.

It's pretty decent but it replicates Apple font smoothing rather than Windows.

I tried it out. But didn't really like the way it used the font smoothing and the way it all looked. Much happier with Firefox.

Funny thing is tho Gizzy - you have to put up with that font smoothing now :p

It looks quite nice on the Mac itself. I just really don't like it on Windows for some reason.

Thanks guys for all the replies I have actually installed it & am really quite impressed I like it better than firefox & it is way better than Opera I shall use it for a few weeks & give it a fair go

Safari has to be the up most worse Browser. Firefox being the best, also comes custom on most if not all Linux distributes. Opera roles into 2nd with Internet Explorer 3rd.

I find It Good & My Top 5 in order would be.............

1 IE (for its sheer compatibilty which overrides it great gliches)
2 Safari
3 Firefox
4 Netscape ( if its still Made)
5 Oprea

But Firefox is a lot safer to use than all of them...

Shut up you Mac hater. Just because you can't afford quality kit. :lol:

Pete, IE may be the most 'compatible', but that's only because Microsoft have a monopoly and most people write things for it. Nowadays with the browser war, Firefox is becoming a lot more popular and as quite a few of the browsers are based on the same engine (IE nicks portions of Gecko, for instance) they mostly render in the same way.

There isn't much you can't find elsewhere on the internet to update it. :)

I find FF slower than Safari though!

OpenDarwin.org - was a side bit of Apple where they made the backend of Mac OS X available for public (& free) consumption.

It's been replaced by another site which I can't remember atm...

Oh I see Tom Thanks for clearly that up & I just noticed on the BBC "Click on Line" that AOL who now own Netscape have with drawn support for it , I was amazed to hear that in 1997 90% of all Internet users browsed with Netscape,changed days

I think Safari is good in it's own right, but I prefer FireFox 3. Most annoying is the "Apple Software Updater" that comes with Safari and Quicktime/iTunes

I installed it and did a search for an addon which I use on Firefox, the only similar one I found when I clicked to download it asked for payment! Don't think so!

I once used Safari but uninstalled it after a month. At first I have problem adapting it due to theme and fonts change. The reason I uninstall is because it is taking too much RAM at one time, used too much space, and the apple software updater. If you want me to choose out of the 3 reasons which one I hate the most it would be the hungry RAM usage but I think the current stable version should not have such problem since I used it when it was in its first beta stage. So probably now I would point my finger at the space it uses. I have little space so Firefox will be with me for now but I might consider installing it once again after I got a bigger hard drive. Overrall I would rate Safari, 7.5/10 from my beta experience.

Safari is a rather good browser if you ask me - and Apple have been very clever with it.

By giving it the same look that it has on Windows as on Mac OS X they're effectively setting up an advert for it!
