Kettering station - car park

Hi, i'm a new user to the forum.

I'm going to use Kettering station for the first time tomorrow & have a question about car parking.

I found the weekend day charge on the East Midlands trains website but there is no info on if the car park ticket machines are cash only?

Does anyone know if the car park ticket machines accept just cash & if it's just coin's only?

Or can you also use card / mobile payment at Kettering?

Hi Lee, card is most likely these days. Either via phoning a number on the car park sign or at the payment machine. Cash is getting less common as it leaves the machines vulnerable to be broken into sadly.

Well car park was FREE all day today due to engineering works between Kettering & further south causing rail replacement coaches.

Luckily I was going in the other direction so no disruption, ended up on a class 222, seemed much more nicer in standard class & also faster then the London Midland stuff I've been on plenty of time's before.

Do these class 222 trains tilt?

They seem to move a lot on cornering, was my first time using a East Midlands 222.

I'm more used to London Midlands 350's

I think you're wrong - I'm 99% certain that Kettering has the same type of machines as Wellingborough - which accepts both card and cash.

At one time the MML / EMT car parks went Pay & Display but more recently have reverted to pay-on-exit (at the machine rather than the barrier) and I'm sure when I traveled via Kettering at the end of last year it was the same machines as used at Wellingborough (which I use fairly frequently).

Kettering is pay on exit, the machines are in the station building on the left as you walk in the main door.

I didn't really look at the machine's in detail to see what types of payment they accepted as car parking was FREE yesterday

I'm very, very sorry, I was mistaking Kettering to Beeston...Yes a strange mistake I know but I used both car parks in the same day the other day.
