Just to let everyone know its on Pick TV tonight at 8pm, for those who dont have Sky.

Im surprised that they dont have a picker to pick stuff up of the tracks.

An interesting episode all the same. Not sure I'd want to be the lad doing security checks at York :P

It is, and I really hope Sky don't do another like this. It was dire from the get-go and I refused to watch it after the first episode. I particularly disliked the choice of narrator, worse than the choice for Pound Shop Wars from the BBC.

Avoiding it like the plague, and hopefully the family won't set it to record again. Kept taking it off the list last time!

What I would like to see though is another lot of The Railway that Channel 5 did. That was surprisingly done well, fair dos to Channel 5 and the production crews.

I would have to agree that the choice of narrator leaves a little to be desired for the purpose

I watched the bulk of the first series, and I did sit through this again, as there was nothing else worth watching last night!

Must admit the First Great Western series was 10 times better than the East Coast one.

I thought the Channel 5 one was good but I think the best is when BBC did some in 2012 I think?

Each series had a different style I noticed. BBC Two's "The Railway: Keeping Britain on Track" was quite classy with an orchestral musical score and had a very even share between on-board, stations and Network Rail.

Five's "The Railway: First Great Western" (still available on-demand by the way) was a lot more up-beat, electronic music used less as background music and more as foreground, FGW-focused of course, ie less time with Network Rail than BBC's.

Sky's "All Aboard: East Coast Trains" is different again, and is presented more like a reality TV show rather than a fly-on-the-wall documentary. I've not seen it all yet, but I understand what you mean about the narrator. I'll try my best to catch it again now it's being repeated on Pick.

Employees of fgw were given the dvd of the series for Xmas. Mine is still in its wrapper gathering dust. I was in the BBC 2 version when I was in a different role but only have a screen shot of my fame. The couple seconds of it! Haha!

Yeah they were hired for when the Sky1HD set did filming runs at York and Berwick which is shown on Sky 1 before you see a program, the promo if you like. It had nothing to do with the actual program.
