Not a 171. It's a class 456, some of which have transferred over to SWT

As mentioned, 456s transferred from Southern.

SWT have put some posters up, advising passengers about the green trains and that they'll be refurbished in due course.

But then it's not the longest journey in the world. If you're making an end-to-end journey; alternative services are available by changing at Wokingham, with no time penalty - and those trains do have toilets.

Your right about that. I'm sure there are other South West Trains services which are just as long or not much longer than have loos. I'm thinking of the Basingstoke stoppers.

Perhaps they could replace some of those, freeing up coaches to add to other services such as the 18.39 to Poole service from Waterloo, which could do with more than 5 coaches.

That's exactly what they are doing. The basic point of the internal cascades (following the full arrival of both the 458/5s and the 456s) is to lengthen some suburban and mainline services, SWT listed the intended routes here:

Well that specific train needs more carriages. I can't speak about other trains in the evening, they probably don't stop at Clapham Junction but that train does.

But the point is it might be getting more carriages. The original press release doesn't show any times does it. Why not wait and see what they do instead of complaining now with no evidence either way?

The solution is to put Woking in the timetable as pick-up only. The train is full and standing for those 25 minutes only. I think the 1709 off Waterloo is a higher candidate for 8 vice 5.

That cannot be done as that is the change train point for passengers going to Portsmouth Harbour from Clapham Junction. The problem is passengers going to Woking from Waterloo but effectively cancelling yet another service from Clapham Junction wouldn't be the answer. Stopping another service at Clapham would but they can't do that currently.

Interesting there was 10 coaches used the other night but that was due to disruption and not standard. There was plenty of space.

It could be. Instead of pick-up only, just non-advertise it at Waterloo. There's a Woking/Guildford train 6 minutes later. Plenty of room for Clapham punters. Alas, too difficult.

That would work except very soon people will workout it still stops at Woking. The only way would be to be them but no regulations in place for such things.
