Staff on trains - shifts etc

ATW have one with the last Cardiff-Hereford at night, a Cardiff crew bring it up, spend a few hours in Hereford and then bring it back down to Cardiff first thing in the morning. Virgin have at least one for drivers, with a Euston driver working Euston to Wolverhampton late at night, then bringing one back to London the next morning

East Coast still have proper lodging turns though, for Newcastle drivers at Inverness, and I believe Grand Central and Hull Trains do as well in London?



Only one diagrammed as far as I know, other than the one above, on a Saturday a Manchester-Cardiff has the guard change over at Hereford.

In reference to all of the above, in the week a Cardiff guard works the last Cardiff (0030) to Hereford arriving at 0155 which forms 2B01. The driver and guard both spend a couple of hours in the EWS messroom on platform 3 before shunting onto Platform 1 ready for the 2Y07 0526 Barry Island.

I wish they would! If the guard misses that train (they travel back to Crewe as PASS) it takes them an extra 90 minutes to get back to depot
