Many place names in Wales that begin with 'Llan' are named for saints. Llandudno is the church of St Tudno, Llanelli is the church of St Elli, etc.

I'll try to get back to the original spirit of the thread by mentioning Mountain Ash, Port Talbot and Hope.

Bishop Briggs, the finest man to come out of Glasgow, closely followed by Annie Sland, the finest woman.

Then there's the Hill family: Mary and Jordan (both have Nits).

And not forgetting, Cath Cart.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Lewes counts if we are allowing names that sound the same but are not spelt the same.

You of course make reference to a homophone.

Telford strikes me as an obvious one.

Also Milton Keynes is obviously two surnames, although MK itself is NOT named after anybody, but is actually named after the original village of the same name. The Keynes in that name is a family landowner name from the middle ages, same root as Horsted Keynes. The Milton however is just a contraction of Middleton.

Maryhill is actually named after a real person called Mary Hill.

There are obviously a lot more stations that contain first names rather than are simply just a first name.

For the person that suggested Mountain Ash... there is also just Ash. Or if you want the full name, there is also Ashley.

I believe there is someone in one of these horrendous boy bands names Aston, please forgive me for knowing that. There's no Merrygold station as far as I am aware though.

For surnames, how about Barnes? I just discovered, thanks to Wikipedia, the existence of Chester Barnes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chester_Barnes

Bryn?

I think the A Song of Ice and Fire series has people in it called Stafford, Preston, Lancaster and nearly Tywyn (Tywin).

Oh my God, DUH! I've just realised... he's called "Ser Preston Greenfield" !!! :p

We should cancel replace Christmas with Georgemas to celebrate the patron saint of unusual railway stations with a midnight Mass service from the North Pole express.

Back to the GNS where a junction called Maud could be found, now closed but on the way to Peterhead and Fraserburgh whilst on the coast line there was Glenbarry.

Not a station but on the GNR East Lincolnshire line there was a level crossing and signal box near Boston called Maud Foster.

Al-thorpe North Lincolnshire

Al-ford GNR East Lincolnshire line, GNS Aberdeenshire and GW Somerset, once more all closed.

A pseudo James Bond could have two conjoined names with....

Lazonby & Kirk..Oswald

By George you're right. He only lived once in the role though and rightly so being careless enough to allow the demise of the former Mrs. Peel, unforgivable in my book. There's even a tenuous narrow gauge IOM connection here.

What about:

Rye likes to have an apple delivered to his dore and he likes to buy ham from the shop on the next street for when he goes on a day out with his friend Ash Ford.

I have created a sentence containing the succesive stations of Rye, Appledore, Ham Street and Ashford.

Win Chelsea he cried at his black-and-white television; he couldn't afford a colour one since he was on the dole and could barely afford ham, Ore his favourite illicit treat, hash 'tings; like cannabis tea.

In the reverse direction, though it isn't as coherent as yours! :D
