Im assuming they aren't going online.. But the day could be a valuable foot in the door for new entrants.

Got to see the text of the press-released advert today whilst in the depot. It's all as stated above, which was copied from the original. Assume the recruitment process will be the usual assessment days however it will really give you a foot on the ladder if you shine out at the jobs fair day.

Am I being a bit thick, or is it only for qualified LRV Drivers who are looking for positions? Or trainees too?

Thanks

It's for trainees because you can only be qualified as long as you work there.
It's a great job and enjoyed driving before I made the switch over to the bigger trains.

Brilliant! Didn't want to make the journey from Leeds to Manchester for no reason is all.

Has anyone been to one of these open days? Are they generally quite busy? Any more general info on what to expect?

Thanks

It's brand new, a change of approach. Speaking amongst a big group of colleagues, many see this as a more fair approach to application sifting.

There will always be those rubbish at job applications but great at the job, I feel this is a more fair approach, and gives the more keen applicants the opportunity to demonstrate their interest in the job unlike many candidates who just scatter-gun apply every job they see often with little interest in the positions.

I'll be attending with the intention of applying for a PSR role.I'm currently employed by the ambulance service, however, having become disillusioned and frustrated in this role,i reckon this could be right up my street.
Next Thursday cant come soon enough......

Can anyone shed any light on the salary, both in training and upon qualification? Thank you:)

I know its a fresh approach and all new but I was just wondering If I anybody who is in the know can help. Will I be ok turning up with only my CV in hand or am I likely to face an informal interview. I will be coming straight from finishing my early shift and 4am start and I'm thinking I may not be the best prepared person in the room if it turns into an interview situation.?

Hi Tracy,i also have no idea what to expect tomorrow so,my advice,be ready for anything.....

Like you i'm going armed with my CV,dressed smartly and with a huge desire to land a job:D

Best of luck to all who are attending.

To say i'm disappointed with this event is an understatement.

A lot of preparation went into my attendance and,to be blunt,it was neither required or appreciated.

All that was required was for people to fill in a small piece of paper registering 'an interest' in any potential vacancies,it all felt very 'distant' and certainly not the individual experience I was hoping for and had planned for.

Also,i think it was an opportunity wasted by the employer,as a 10 minute interview with a recruitment officer would have served to help separate the wheat from the chaff and place potential candidates on the first rung of the ladder.

A shame:cry:

I was just wondering what the general consensus was regarding todays Job Fair at Metrolink?

Curious to know whether I was the only stupid mug to roll up having travelled more than 170 miles (I will be relocating), wearing a pressed suit, CV & numerous certificates in hand and armed with probably more knowledge about the company than those who designed their website only to be greeted by someone who offered me a scrap bit of paper to fill out with my name and address and told I would be sent an application when they are recruiting ....!?!?

..and there was me thinking that despite the interest and even if it meant waiting, I may be able to sit down and actually speak to someone about what I may be able to offer to the role.

I must be really out of touch.

You're not alone James, the event was a joke.
Like you I had invested a lot of time and effort into my attendance and I felt completely let down by Metrolink's approach and response to such.
The scrap of paper everyone filled out was pathetic, why could this have not have been done via their website? Why did I even bother taking a day off work and dressing to impress so as I stood out from the masses who clearly had been sent there unwillingly and could not have cared less....... Surely candidates such as ourselves, who evidently went that extra mile...... deserved the opportunity to
promote our worth to the company?

So,no,I wasn't impressed and if such is a sign of things to come, then I will not be taking my application further,as frankly, they don't deserve my services.
