why the need for a test run after a repaint ?? in case the paint runs faster than the loco ??

Erm, no. In the case of the Class 60's, they've been repainted near the end of a rather extensive overhaul, so a test run is needed to ensure everything is working as it should be. No good sending a loco which has been out of traffic for several months/years straight onto a 3,000 ton train and expect it to work perfectly, something's bound to go wrong. New parts need to bed in, so a test run will ensure that everything that should be working is working. If not, it can be repaired pretty quickly.

Nice to see the return of 60001 back in service albeit in the sporty "rosso red" livery ;). It does look very nice. I hope a similar outcome will be same for 60008 as that one hasn't been around for six years :).

Its definitely 60066 in that shot there. Although 60006 is in a similar Corus livery, that Tug is in a right state inside due to fire damage and I seriously doubt that one will ever see the light of day on the tracks again :(.

60066 is in DBS Biomass livery. Also not DBS but toton bound greater Anglia 90005 is going to get repainted into the greater Anglia livery at toton.

Another two class 08 shunters have been repainted into the DBS livery at warrington and bescot respectively.

Yes, did raise a smile hearing about this. One of faves since I saw it in its early days and got the model. Looks nice, though prefer the original livery. Would be great to see it again, though shame if it doesn't get original name back - I take it that doesn't happen often..?

It would seem the Class 60 preservation group is no longer :( judging by attempts to access their website. Would like to be proven wrong.

Nowt wrong with the livery mate. It suits the Class 60's quite well in my opinion and personally I like it as much as I do the EWS livery :).

DJD200: I am not sure what's happened with the Class 60 Preservation group mate. I was a member up to early 2012 when all communication went completely dead their end :(. No notification that my membership was nearing its renewal, nothing :roll:. Shame really as they were a great lot to communicate with and I bought a fair bit of merchandise over the years to raise funds for them to try and secure one of those beasts ;).

Talking of Class 60's. Does anyone know if 60008 is inline for refurbishment with DB Schenker? As I would love to see that one emerge back on the mainline in the DB Schenker red :). Maybe someday I can preserve this beast myself and if I pull that whopper off. 60008 will be painted up into its original Triple Grey livery named as "Moel Fammau" like the beast was in its first days with BR. Well me and 60008 have a long friendship dating back to my childhood days when I used to see the brute at Grantham and Nottingham regularly when going on holiday or a trip somewhere on the train. 60008 was always on the tankers that were in various brands back then ;).

Ah memories! :D.

Given the number of overhauls I'd have thought they would have been given a lot more time, but I thought something might be amiss when the website wouldn't let me access the membership page.

Maybe given up seen as they seem to have at least a medium term future, restart when it is needed.

I'd be happy if someone would just wash 67004 never mind paint it so I don't get manky every time I get in or out it! Must be months since it had a clean!
